As a Lead Adult Care Worker you will make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. You will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control.
Typical job titles include Care Officer, Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Social Work Assistant, etc.
What the entry requirement?
Candidates are required to have at least a Level 2 prior attainment (5 GCSE’s Grades A-C or equivalent). It is preferable that candidates have at least 1 years professional work experience.
What apprentices will achieve?
This programme includes 4 components as listed below:
- Competence Qualification – Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (England)
- Care Certificate
- Transferable Skills (English and Maths)
- End Point Assessment
This programme will be delivered over 12-18 months.
An initial assessment for learners will be made before the start of their programme to identify:
- if the candidate has any specific training needs
- support and guidance they may need when working towards their qualification
- any units they have already completed, or credit they have accumulated which is relevant to the qualification.
Apprentices must undertake a programme of study in a suitable care setting and complete the 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate as part of a high-quality induction programme.
Apprentices will submit portfolio of evidences to demonstrate their achievement of knowledge, skills and behaviour set in standard.
End Point Assessment
Component 1: Situational Judgement Test
The Situational Judgement Test is an onscreen test that will assess apprentices’ underpinning knowledge and knowledge of the skills required across the Apprenticeship Standard, in line with the Assessment Plan requirements.
Component 2: Professional Discussion
The Professional Discussion is a planned, structured discussion between the apprentice and the independent end-point assessor. The primary purpose of the Professional Discussion is to assess the apprentice’s level of competency in carrying out their role as a Lead Adult Care Worker.
